Not until 1973 was this great estate officially elevated to First Growth status, but considered by many to be making some of the greatest wines of Bordeaux at least since 1853 when Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild bought the estate of Brane Mouton and made it Mouton-Rothschild. This offering typifies this collector's eye for the very bestthe vintages here are a roll call of the some of the best of the last century. The 1945 is a candidate for the "best ever" and the pair of '59 and '61 demand to be compared - so grab a case of both!

Lot 362 level: upper shoulder. Lot 363 levels: bottom neck; both "Rebouché au Château en 199?". Lot 364 levels: two into neck and four very top shoulder; five with Reserve du Château; believed to have been recorcked and one with cut capsule.
Impressively deep appearance, opaque core, mature but still intense rim; unmistakable '45 Mouton: very spicy, eucalyptus, amazing fragrances; sweet, glorious flavor, very rich, soft but tannic. MB
