An ivory and gold lacquer fan
19th century
decorated in hiramakie and takamakie to one side with buterflies and quail amongst flowering branches, the reverse with Kannon seated upon a coiled dragon, playing a musical instrument, amongst foaming waves, the sides with swallows and other birds in flight amongst trailing flowers and foliage, attached silk tassle and ivory and lacquer ojime -- 10½in. (26.5cms) long.
