A Satsuma tapering baluster vase
19th century
with short everted neck, painted and gilt with a shaped panel depicting a cockerel and hen before chrysanthemums attached to canes and brushwood fences, the reverse with birds amongst peonies and before blossoming trees, all on a dark blue ground reserved with bands of stylised flowers and leaves -- 11½in. (29.1cm.) high, signed and sealed Kinkozan zo.
