Lot Essay
The present work, executed in March of 1905, is recorded in Charles Curran's record book as number 150-20. According to these records, Curran originally traded the picture for $500 worth of credit for clothing. Trading was a common practice for Curran and his record book shows many notations where he had exchanged his paintings for varied services throughout his career.
