In the rococo style, on shaped-circular stand chased with ribbon and thread border and stylised shells surrounding four cartouche-shaped vacant medallions and applied with a lobster and a skate, the circular tureen on openwork scroll supports, with two foliate handles and applied with rococo vacant cartouches beneath duke's coronets, the domed cover chased with scrolls and cartouches, the finial in the shape of a group of dead game, fully marked

This tureen is of the same design as the set of five tureens ordered by the Comte de La Riboisière from Charles-Nicolas Odiot and delivered in 1851. Odiot exhibited the oval tureen at Crystal Palace in London during the 1851 Universal exhibition and received a medal for this piece. One of the four La Riboisière circular tureens was sold Christie's Geneva, 19 November 1996, lot 20.
