Mark of G. Schwartzkopf, circa 1870
Comprising a centrepiece, two candelabra, a pair of soup-tureens and stands, and twenty-six various plates, the centrepiece on shaped base on dolphin and shell feet, with baluster column, and ovolo and acanthus borders, with two detachable shell-form side dishes and detachable shell-form upper basket, embellished with strapwork, vacant cartouches, cast grotesque masks, scrolls and foliage, marked on basket base, foot-rim of shell dishes, and on base; the two seven-light candelabra ensuite with baluster stems, detachable branches, drip pans and nozzles, one marked under base, one on foot-rim; the soup-tureens circular, with acanthus borders, two handles with acanthus terminals, and detachable covers with baluster finials, with circular stands, each marked on base and stand, the covers unmarked, the bases and stand also stamped G. SCHWARTZKOPF; and eighteen dinner-plates and eight dessert-plates, each with acanthus border, each engraved with a coat-of-arms, marked on reverse, each also stamped G. SCHWARTZKOPF
