The shaped circular basin with reeded rim and fluted sides, chased with panels of scrolls, foliage and diaperwork, the ewer on spreading foot and with knopped baluster stem, with leaf capped harp-shaped handle and curved lip, each chased with panels of scrolls, foliage and diaperwork, the raised centre of the dish and the ewer each later engraved with a crest within a motto, marked on dish and ewer

The crest is that of Rutherford, as borne by the Earls of Teviot (2)
