The leopard monopodia relate to a griffin-patterned 'Leg for Sideboard' issued in George Smith's Collection of Designs for Household Furniture, 1808 (pl. 91). Such paired leopards, combined with a flowered frieze, also featured in a sideboard pattern issued in Henry Whitaker's Designs of Cabinet and Upholstery Furniture in the Most Modern Style, 1826 (E. T. Joy, Pictorial Dictionary of British 19th Century Furniture Design, Woodbridge, 1977, p. 429).
