In 1813 Gillows of Lancaster supplied four related dressing-tables to William Powlett, 2nd Baron Bolton (1782-1850) for Hackwood Park, Hampshire at a cost of £8 16s 6d each. They were sold from Hackwood, Christie's house sale, 20-22 April 1998, lots 356, 358, 359 and 360. Gillows supplied another 'Handsome Mahogany five drawer Dressing Table' to Richard Gascoigne for Parlington Hall, Aberford. It is now at Lotherton Hall, Leeds (illustrated in C. Gilbert, Furniture at Temple Newsam House and Lotherton Hall, London, 1978, vol. II, p. 380, fig. 500).
A closely related dressing-table, attributed to Gillows, was sold anonymously, in these Rooms, 30 November 2000, lot 318.
