Poggi took the figures from a print by P. A. Martini after Ramberg of the Royal Family's visit to the Royal Academy in 1778: he removed Sir Joshua Reynolds and other Academicians, added the youngest members of the Royal family and altered the pictures to those in the later exhibition, and added a view of Windsor Castle through a door.
There are mounted versions of this fan in The Royal Collection and The Victoria and Albert Museum (T.56-1933).
Not in the Schreiber Collection which has a cut down version of the Martini plate (S.U.34, S.E.18)
