A GREEK GOLD SERPENT BRACELET
Hellenistic Period, Circa 330-300 B.C.
Formed from a hollow tube coiled into a double hoop, the tube wound spirally with a rounded ribbon, and ornamented with pairs of beaded wire in the valleys, each end with a cylindrical collar adorned with a foliate band of twisted wire highlighted by granules, framed with bands of plain and opposing twisted wires, a band of filigree twisted wire tongues where the collars join the hoop, the ends terminating in an undulating naturalistically modelled snake, the overlapping scales and the ribbed underside well-detailed, the snake's broad head with recessed eyes and open mouth
