SEVEN ROMAN RINGS
Circa 1st-3rd Century A.D.
Including a solid cast gold ring expanding at the shoulders, the flat bezel engraved with a large leaf (size 6½); a solid cast gold ring expanding at the shoulders, the circular bezel engraved with a dotted inscription reading, "ANT WNIC NEW" (size 4); a solid cast gold ring bulging at the shoulder, the eye-shaped bezel set with a cabochon oval emerald (size 3¾); a hollow gold ring, the hoop square in section, the oval bezel set with a cabochon garnet (size 5½); a hollow gold ring with a round hoop expanding at the shoulders, set with a cameo depicting the head of a man, perhaps Herakles, in profile to the right (size 3½); a hollow gold ring with a round hoop, the long flat bezel set with a cabochon glass in imitation of agate (size 7½); and a solid gold ring with a round hoop, expanding at the shoulders, set with a flat oval agate engraved with a bust of a maenad in profile to the left, pan pipes before her (size 8½); together with two modern rings, one a gold ring with a hemispherical agate set in a bezel with triangles of pseudo-granulation (size 10), and one a gold ring with an elaborate pyramidal bezel set with a square turquoise (size 8) (9)
