A GREEK TERRACOTTA FEMALE FIGURE
Hellenistic Period, Circa Early 3rd Century B.C.
Wearing a sleeveless chiton with a himation hanging over her left shoulder and wrapped around her left fore-arm which crosses her waist, her left leg bent with her foot emerging from beneath her drapery at her side, leaning into her right hip, her right arm at her side, her head turned slightly to the left creating a series of Venus lines on her long neck, her center-parted hair rolled at the sides around a fillet, and pulled into a top-knot, the remaining tresses falling in thick curls along her shoulders, her oval face with soft features and a long straight nose, a dimple just above her chin, with extensive pigment preserved throughout, yellow along the top of her chiton, pink on her lower drapery, pale pink-white for her skin, and gray on the back of her himation
