A GREEK BRONZE FIGURE OF A HORSE
Hellenistic Period, Circa 1st Century B.C.
Well-modelled and naturalistically depicted, striding forward with the left fore- and hind-leg advanced, the left fore-leg bent and raised, the head turned to the left, the ridged mane with incised parallel lines, the eyes and nostrils deeply recessed, the mouth slightly open, the rendered neck muscles prominent, the genitalia detailed, the hocks on the hind-quarters pronounced, the tapering tail incised with a v-shaped pattern
