FOUR ROMAN TERRACOTTA "CAMPANA" RELIEF FRAGMENTS
Circa 1st Century B.C.-1st Century A.D.
Including one preserving a muscular youth in profile to the right, depicted nude but for the mantle draped over his left shoulder, his head lowered, his right hand raised to his chin, his left hand holding a staff; one preserving the head of a youth in profile, with a lidded eye, full lips and rounded chin, a fillet in his hair; one preserving a bearded satyr in profile to the left, wearing an animal skin over his shoulders and tied across his chest, grasping a full grape vine in both hands, a grape leaf above; and one preserving a maenad wearing a long chiton which slips off her right shoulder exposing her breast, her head thrown back in ecstasy, a tendril of hair on her bare shoulder, clutching a snake in her left hand that wraps around the length of her arm, the severed head of a calf in her right hand, a workshop stamp to the left, framed by an egg and dart molding above and below; preserving traces of pigment throughout
