From a battle sarcophagus, the fragment preserving the head of a boy in profile to the left, his oval fleshy face framed by deeply-drilled, long wavy locks, his heavy-lidded, deep set eyes with drilled pupils, his brow wrinkled, his fleshy lips parted with the upper lip slightly protruding, a ridge in his mouth indicating teeth, a fragmentary hand gripping his hair, a curving projection to the left
12½ in. (31.7 cm) high

Lot Essay
