A Sèvres (outside-decorated) commemorative cabinet cup and saucer
commemorative of the American civil war, with loop handle, the shallow bowl painted with two flags, a drum and a sword amongst branches of oak leaves and leafy green branches beneath a coat of arms and the motto CADENTI PORRIGO DEXTRAM, the interior with a continuous band of leafy branches, the saucer with a similar coat of arms and motto and gilt monogram amongst branches, incised marks, printed green marks with date codes for 1865 and 1866, the decoration later (minor surface scratches)
