Lot Essay

Levera, Bros & Co., Turin exhibited at the International Exhibition of 1862, London, in the Italian section, Class XXX, section 5, stand 2147. The Exhibition catalogue states "we must specially notice the manufacture of the brothers Levera, who during the last ten years have greatly improved this branch of the trade. A great number of workmen are employed in their factory, who produce many articles of furniture, carved, gilt, and inland (sic). The models show to what perfection this branch of industry has been brought in Italy".
