Lot Essay

The present lot is possibly a portrait of 'mijn meisje'...'Andrea', an unknown first girlfriend, who Van der Leck mentions in letters to P. Klaarhamer on 29 June and 8 September 1899. The correspondence between Van der Leck and Klaarhamer can be found in Het Klaarhamer Archief, Nederlands Architectuur Instituut, Rotterdam.
