A French engraved brass and porcelain-mounted mignonnette carriage timepiece
Drocourt, No.12673. Circa 1875
The engraved oval case mounted with bowed porcelain side panels, painted with gilt-heightened (rubbed) royal blue borders and with reserves depicting rustic maidens with sheep, the dial with conforming borders and painted with a maiden sleeping beneath a bower and with Cupid flying beside her, the Roman chapter ring with gilt border, the centre with basket and floral garland, indistinct retail signature, with blued steel hands, the single barrel movement with silvered platform to the bimetallic balance with lever escapement, the backplate with punched stamp for Drocourt and numbered 12673, with repeat number to the underside of the case
