A Japanese brass and iron striking lantern clock (KAKE-DOKEI)
Second half 19th century
The rectangular case engraved with sprays of peonies and chrysanthemums to the side doors and front, with iron plates to top and base, on tapering feet, the dial with adjustable chapters revolving against a stationary pierced blued steel hand, the weight-driven two train movement with verge escapement and single foliot, with countwheel strike on flattened bell; on a later and black and red painted wall bracket and with glazed hood
The clock -- 9½in. (24cm.) high, 18in. (46cm.) high overall
