A Japanese brass striking lantern clock with calendar and alarm (KAKE-DOKEI)
Second half 19th century
The case engraved overall with foliage and peonies, the dial with brass chapter ring with engraved characters and centered by a revolving disc with fixed pierced blued steel hand, single calendar aperture beneath, the two train movement with verge escapement and double foliot, countwheel strike on flat bell, (alarm hammer and staff lacking); with an associated hardwood wall bracket with glazed hood and fabric sound panels
The clock -- 19½in. (49.5cm.) high, 31¾in. (80.5cm.) high overall
