Signed on the horizontal plate W. & S. Jones Holborn London. Mid 19th Century
The 14 in. (35.5 cm.) long telescope with objective dust-cover, rack and pinion focusing with eyepiece draw-tube fine adjustment and under-mounted bubble level, on a graduated quadrant support, the silvered scale on one side graduated 90°-0-60°, scales on the other side for the difference between hypotenuse and base, and the perpendicular in 100th's of the base, raised on two A-frame supports with tangent screw fine adjustment, the horizontal plate with two bubble levels, the glazed compass box with edge bar needle and clamp, the chamfered silvered scale around the edge with twin Verniers, tangent screw fine adjustment and clamp, with under-mounted secondary sighting telescope and three adjustment screw feet, with tripod mounting
