Lot Essay

The combination of circular dial with moonphase is rare and few examples are known, although oval examples have been recorded. The falseplate on this clock is unfortunately not stamped and therefore we do not know the maker. However, various features - 'tumbling' Arabic hours, Arabic minutes marked only at the quarter hour, double minute track and matching diamond hands - point to Period Two production and a date of 1810-20.
