The solid mahogany case with rectangular panel to the double-footed plinth with shaped apron, rectangular breakarch door with brass escutcheon, brass-capped and brass reeded detached columns to the hood supporting the arched top (formerly with sound fret), the sides formerly with glazed panels and now covered, the 12 in. wide dial signed John Ellicott London on the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, the matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring (later hand) and calendar aperture, later blued steel hands, the brass spandrels finely cast with C-scrolls, foliage and shells, with dolphin spandrels flanking a strike/silent ring in the arch, the substantial movement with thick brass rectangular plates secured by five large brass pillars (originally six but one removed), the three train movement chiming the quarters on eight bells via eight hammers, with hour strike on a further bell; with three brass-cased weights and original(?) pendulum
