Joseph-Pierre-François Jeanselme (?-1860) was one of the founding members of the Jeanselme dynasty. The Jeanselme family firm was one of the foremost firms of cabinet makers in Paris, from its foundation in 1824 untill its demise in 1930. During the forties and fifties of the 19th Century they received several comissions to furnish several palaces amongst which Fontainbleau and the Palais Royal. These chairs are stamped JEANSELME, this stamp was used by Joseph-Pierre-François from 1840 till 1853.
