Banded and crossbanded overall, the eared canted rectangular top surmounted by a later three-quarter gallery, above a hinged fall-front inlaid with a village scene depicting various figures with a house, a haystack and a church beyond, with a gilt-tooled blue leather-lined writing-surface to the reverse, enclosing a mahogany-lined fitted interior with five variously-sized open compartments, five pigeon-holes, five drawers and a door enclosing a plain interior with one drawer, above a pair of doors one inlaid with a farmer, the other with a farmer's wife with houses beyond, enclosing a plain interior with one shelf, above a shaped apron, the marquetry later
