An unusual 12-inch (30.5cm.) diameter educational terrestrial table globe made up of twelve chromolithographed gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial and equinoctial colure graduated in degrees, the ecliptic not shown, the oceans with ocean currents, zones of temperance, steamship routes, submarine cable lines and some wind directions, the oceans and the continents covered with numbers in red and numerous depictions of ships, people, creatures and other items of interest, some such as that by Hawaii depicting a famous historical scene at the appropriate location, the continents in yellow and with nation states shown in red dotted outline, Austria-Hungary shown as pre-WWI, Central America showing the Panama Canal (general rubbing and slight discolouration) with an unengraved ebonised meridian circle, with turning handle and ratcheted wheel, raised on a tulip-shaped painted wooden column and ebonised cast-iron tripod base with scroll decoration (some paint loss) -- 24½in. (62.2cm.) high; together with the 12 original chromolithographed game cards with counters, each representing part of a continent, with a map of that area depicting numerous people and animals, and each with eight numbered counters, removable to reveal an animal or race or other item of interest, contained in a card box with a colour photocopy of card 11 OCÉANIE (Partie Occidentale) applied to the lid

An interesting and unusual globe, the purpose of the game it is used to play is unclear; the cartography and pictures on the globe are similar to those on the cards, although the positions of the numbers do not correspond to those on the cards.
