A Victorian carved oak quarter-chiming Directors' clock, late 19th century
The case carved with overlapping leaves and grotesque masks to the top, with brass handle, with crowned male mask caryatids to the front and carved sound frets to the sides, the arched brass dial within a silvered slip, with foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with matted centre, subsidiary rings to the arch for chime/silent, slow/fast and chime on eight bells/Westminster chimes, blued steel hands, the triple chain fusee movement with anchor escapement, chiming on eight nested bells and with hour strike on gong, with pendulum holdfast to the back plate -- 23in. (58.5cm.) high to hilt of handle
