A George III mahogany striking bracket clock, last quarter 18th century
The case with brass handle to a breakarch top, arched glazed side panels, on stepped and moulded rectangular base, the arched silvered and engraved dial signed along the lower edge THO,S BROWN BIRMINGHAM, with Arabic chapter ring and subsidiary strike/silent ring above, box date aperture to the centre, lozenge-pierced blued steel hands, the five pillar movement with verge escapement and strike on (later) bell, trip repeat, the back plate elaborately engraved with flowers and with a floral urn, bottom of case stamped TD -- 17½in. (44cm.) high to hilt of handle
