A Victorian mahogany longcase clock, mid 19th century
The hood with swan neck pediment and polygonal columns, with conforming columns flanking the short trunk door, the plinth with canted angles and raised on bracket feet, the white painted dial with raised centre, the upper spandrels painted with a mother and children and a man with rosary and a kneeling woman with crucifix respectively, the lower spandrels with armorials, Roman chapter ring with centre painted en grisaille with figures in an interior and with colourful fruit above, gilt painted spade hands, the rolling moon alternating with a ship of the line and a village church, with falseplate to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 94½in. (240cm.) high
