A George III mahogany longcase clock, circa 1765
The case with pagoda hood topped by a brass finial, with glazed side panels and outset brass stop-fluted columns, the breakarch trunk door with moulded frame, with concave-corned panel to the plinth (shortened), its stepped skirting with wavy apron, the 12in. wide brass dial with urn and foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman chapter ring, with subsidiary seconds ring, date aperture and signature plaque inscribed Robert Ward LONDON to the matted centre, blued steel hands, the arch with silvered strike/silent ring, the five pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement and strike on bell -- 99in. (251.5cm.) high
