Lot Essay

General Sir George Sackville Browne K.C.B. was born in Riverstown, Co. Cork in 1756. He became a colonel in 1810 and Lt. General 1825. He died in Brussels in 1828.

Sackville Casement was the great uncle of Sir Roger Casement (1864-1916), the Irish nationalist executed for his involvement in the Sinn Fein rebellion. He was tried for treason and hanged.
