Lot Essay

This book was originally donated to the Warner Bros. library by Charlie Chaplin. The library was subsequently gifted to Norman Jewison's Film Institute in Toronto, which was liquidated some years ago, and was acquired by the vendor at that time.
Child star Jackie Coogan starred as Oliver Twist in the 1922 First National Pictures production of Dickens' classic novel of the same name. Coogan first appeared with Chaplin aged five in A Day's Pleasure in 1919, but his name became synonymous with Chaplin's for his role in The Kid in 1921.
