Small 4° (250 x 182mm.), engraved title by N. Pitau after C. le Brun, 28 engraved plates, including 26 after Abraham Bosse and François Chauveau with an engraved ornamental cypher by Armand Desmarets impressed at head and foot of each plate (a few plates shaved at head or foot touching plate mark, occasional light spotting), levant morocco gilt by Petit, triple fillets on sides, spine lettered and lavishly decorated in gilt, gilt turn-ins, gilt edges (spine very lightly faded, extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance: Frank Linsly James (bookplate).

FIRST EDITION of this epic poem in twenty-six cantos. Brunet II, 633; Tchemerzine IV, 341 (calls for 28 engraved plates only).
