4 volumes, 8° (193 x 122mm.), half titles in volumes II-IV, 100 engraved plates by Hubert after Bornet, Charpentier and Duplessi-Bertaux (light, mainly marginal, spotting), red morocco gilt by Petit (according to a manuscript note on front endpaper), sides ruled in gilt with floral cornerpieces, flat gilt spines, gilt inner dentelles, gilt edges.
An attractive illustrated edition of Gil Blas, showing the continued taste for the picaresque. Le Sage's novel had first appeared 1715-1735. Brunet III, 1006; Cohen-de-Ricci 632. (4)
