12° (178 x 102mm.), Half title, parallel text in French and English, BOUND FOR MARIE-LOUISE, EMPRESS OF THE FRENCH, in contemporary red half morocco gilt, covers blocked with the crowned 'M A' monogram, the flat spine divided into five compartments by horizontal rules, lettered in the second. Provenance: Marie-Louise, Empress of the French (binding); Calvin Bullock (bookplate). Napoleon I married Marie-Louise of Austria (1791-1847) in 1810. After his abdication in 1814, she was made Duchess of Palma. She secretly remarried in 1821, and died in Vienna in 1847.
