LUTHER, Martin. Tomus primus [quartus] omnium operum. Jena: Christian Roedinger, 1556-58,

4 volumes, 2° (314 x 187mm.) Titles within a woodcut border (volumes II-IV within a different one), full-page illustration at the beginning of volumes II-IV), woodcut initials. Contemporary blindstamped pigskin over wooden boards, decoration on sides composed of various roll-tool borders, at head initials 'LB' and at foot date 1559, metal clasps, labels on spines added later (a few light signs of wear). Provenance: Heinrich Purgold (signature, dated 1659, on titles); Johann Georg Schramm (signature, dated, 1703, on titles); John Hutchison (19th-century book-label).

An early edition of the complete Latin works of Luther printed, like several others, at Iena. These were printed in conjunction with the German works which appeared in 8 volumes. cf. Brunet III, 1240.
