Augustus JOHN. Three autograph letters signed (the 3rd lacking the 1st page) to Miss Lampson and to his publisher, Daniel George, 1953, n.d. [1954] and 1958, explaining his difficulties in writing his autobiography, 'a ghastly show is hanging over me and I have to work like two niggers', and on other topics including Caitlin Thomas's book, 'Unlike me she cannot avoid the truth even at its ghastliest', 4 pages, 8vo; and a letter by Romilly John about her father's autobiography; Gwen JOHN, to Charles [McEvoy], incompletely dated, [?1904], describing her flat and her life in Paris, 'I have not been posing today, so I washed the floor and everything is brilliant in my room ... Yes I am Parisienne & I feel more at home with the French than the English now', 3 pages, 8vo; Duncan GRANT to H.W. Yoxall, 1942, offering to identify a watercolour, one page, 8vo; Paul NASH to an unidentified friend, n.d., about tracking down his works, and including in the text a sketch of a goddess, 2 pages, 4to; George BISSILL. 36 to Peter Rhodes, 1956-1960 and n.d., about his work and finding pictures for Rhodes, approximately 70 pages, 8vo, and 2 small sketches, landscapes, 85 x 134 mm;
