'Though the torrents from their fountains
Roar down many a craggy steep
Yet they find among the mountains
Resting-places calm & deep'.
The lines are the first stanza of 'Song, for the Wandering Jew' (1800), which contrasts the natural repose of nature with the restless destiny of the Jew.
