Lot Essay

Mr Robert Essick believes this to be a hitherto unrecorded impression, and the first 'seperate' plate with text to have been identified. It was not intended to be included in any of the surviving copies of Urizen, as none of them lack this plate. An impression of the design only, as issued by Blake in his Little Book of Designs, was sold in these Rooms, 25th April, 1995, lot 52, for #32,200.
