A rare Steiff Pantom-Monkey
with brown mohair, brown and black glass eyes, felt face mask with open mouth, ears, hands and feet, white mohair chin, swivel head, jointed limbs, gussetted elbows and knees, weighted feet and remains of strings attached to head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, lowerback and knees --16½in. (42cm.) high, circa 1912 (large hole to face, holes to hands and feet and some wear)

Lot Essay
The Pantom range was the brainchild of Albet Schlopsnies, one of the first things he designed for Steiff. The name Pantom comes from a shortened version of Pantomime.
