A fine late 18th-Century lacquered-brass solar microscope,
signed G Adams No 60 Fleet Street London on the rotating base-plate, the mirror with geared adjustment, the body tube with threaded extension with rack and pinion focusing and sprung stage, with accessories including one brass-mounted objective with butterfly handle, one brass slider with four numbered objectives with figure-of-eight handle, a brass slider with butterfly-shaped handle, six ivory sliders, tweezers, two brass screws with knurled handles for the threaded holes in the base-plate, and an ivory canister containing slide covers and brass retaining rings, contained in the original fitted mahogany case with brass key escutcheon, key and two brass hooks and eyes -- 10½in.
