A fine late 19th-Century lacquered brass 3½-inch refracting telescope,
stamped on the backplate J.H. STEWARD LONDON, the 44-inch (111.7cm.) long body-tube with objective lens dust cap, rack and pinion focusing, starfinder and eyepiece extension tube, with sliding dust-cover, raised via a compass joint to a brass column with rack and pinion adjustment rod, on three folding inswept tripod feet, with two spare eye-piece extension tubes, spare smoked eyepiece lens and two prismatic eyepiece attachments
