An unusual polished brass and steel rangefinder,
"The Director No.12 Mark 1", stamped H.B. No.625, the telescope body-tube in steel, with objective dust-cover, the vertical eyepiece with rubber shade and graduated focusing adjustment, moved via a graduated tangent-screw to the graduated quadrant arc stamped 69 and W26, with clamp, over the horizontal plate with degrees around the circumference, clamp and graduated tangent screw fine adjustment, with three adjustable screw feet and tripod mounting, in the original fitted wooden carrying case with a label of instructions for removal in the lid -- 12.5in. (31.7cm.) wide, with the accompanying brass and mahogany tripod; and a 19th-Century lacquered-brass compound monocular microscope, signed on the foot CARPENTER & WESTLEY 24, Regent St LONDON, in the original mahogany box, with two achromatic objectives, two eyepieces, stage forceps and stage bull's-eye condensor -- 14 7/8in. (37.8cm.) high
