Château La Mission-Haut-Brion--Vintage 1947
Pessac (Graves), cru classé. Château-bottled
Cruse & Fils slip labels. Lot 292 excellent appearance. Level top-shoulder. Lot 293 slightly damaged capsule. Lightly bin-soiled label. Level upper-shoulder
Tasting note: A huge, portlike bouquet of chocolatey, cedary, earthy, plummy fruit demonstrates the extraordinary ripeness that was achieved in the 1947 (95 points; last tasted 10/94) vintage. Very alcoholic, powerful, and rich, but at the same time velvety and sweet, this wine was probably as close to a late harvest La Mission Haut-Brion as one is likely to experience. It is an exceptionnal wine with great flavor dimension and length. Robert Parker. Bordeaux, A Comprehensive Guide, Third Edition.
