First English Edition, "Bon" issue. Hennepin, a Franciscan missionary, travelled with René Robert Cavelier, Sieur de la Salle, into the interior of North America. In 1679 they penetrated the area of the Great Lakes into Illinois, after which Hennepin wrote the first published account of the region.
