Lot Essay

This illustration, depicting Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, was reversed and cropped for the final cover, and many people's idea of Harry's school comes from this image.

"There!" Harry shouted, making Ron and Hedwig jump. "Straight ahead!"
Silhouetted on the dark horizon, high on the cliff over the lake stood the many turrets and towers of Hogwarts castle.
