Lot Essay

Private George Pratt was born in Manchester and enlisted in the 5th Lancers in January 1893, aged 19 years. In a subsequent career of just over 10 years with the Colours, he served out in India between April 1894 and March 1898, and in South Africa between March 1898 and March 1904. Pratt was discharged in the latter month.
