Private Ralph Forman, who was from Ashby-de-la-Zouch, was killed in action at the First Battle of Ypres on 22.8.1914, while serving with 21st Field Ambulance, R.A.M.C. Aged 19 years, he was Mentioned in Despatches 'For gallant and distinguished service in the Field' by Sir John French (London Gazette 17.2.1915 refers).
